Frequently asked questions

When must a new company register its employees for social insurance?

The obligation starts with the first employee: the employer applies to the National Organization for Social Insurance (NOSI) to enrol the establishment on Form 2 within two weeks of starting activity, with a notification for each employee. Every employee who joins later is notified within two weeks of joining. We open new employers' files with NOSI, prepare their forms and track their monthly contributions.

What happens during a social insurance inspection?

NOSI's inspectors may enter the workplace during normal working hours and examine records, books and financial documents. They check registration on Forms 1, 2 and 6, the wage register on Form 17, the monthly payments and the regularity certificate, and where data or records are missing, contributions are computed on the inspectors' findings. We review the employer's position and reconcile wage registers and contributions before an inspection.

Can you handle an objection to a social insurance assessment?

Yes, we prepare objections to NOSI's claims. The objection goes to the competent office within 30 days of receiving the notice, with a fee of EGP 100; if it is rejected, the dispute can be referred to the disputes committee within 30 days, and the committee's decision can be challenged in court within 30 days. If either of those last two deadlines passes, the account becomes final and the amounts payable.

Do you prepare the monthly payroll and salary tax?

Yes, as part of our payroll and social insurance services. Each month payroll is closed on its two liabilities: salary tax withheld is remitted within the first fifteen days of the following month, and social insurance contributions fall due from the first of the following month, with Form 4 filed each quarter and the annual settlement in January. We set each employee's insurable wage and review it every January, when the contribution limits change.
